With regard to Students working in Singapore while on Student visas. Yes you can provided under certain guidelines:

Employment of Foreign Students

If you are here on an Employment Pass you are only allowed to work for the sponsor of your EP. If you are on a Dependent's Pass then you can work if the employer files for a "Letter of Consent" from MOM.

If you are on a LTSVP then you have to apply for the requisite employment pass:

Can you guys tell me if am enrolled in a Language Institute in Singapore (to learn Mandarin - to improve it somehow) and they got my student pass done can i still work? or it should be a recognised Language Institute under the MoM?
As a matter of fact are they any Language Institute recognized by MoM

You can pretty much forget about working in a fast food joint if you are not local, so much so that programs that had originally been designed for expat school kids have pretty much run out of steam.

The reasons:

a) The school kids are unreliable and want too much.
b) Local kids want to earn money.
c) More older people are taking up part time employment and they are reliable.

Heavens above Kmtaymour it should be obvious what Strong Eagles says. Older people are more reliable: means they can be bothered to come to work, do their respective jobs and are less likely to leave after a short period of time. Don't you think it would be a good idea to use those links that sms has posted?

Aha i see I inderstand now.. well the link that SMS sent is who is eligible to work in Singapore while holding certain Visa like DP and so on..

I'll put it this way maybe you will understand better i guess

In Malaysia when i was ther the normal wages per hours is 4 to 5 Ringgit per Hour

Now in Singapore the normal wage would be ? xxx SGD per Hours ( I am not asking for the exact wage but roughly)
