Hi everyone,
I am craving some excellent lebanese or greek food!
I have dined at Sanobar which was average, and would like to try something new.
I have heard Al Hamra at Holland Village is ok, has anyone tried here?
Please give your recommendations, I'm 8 months pregnant and probably won't be dining out in the near future after baby is born...
Thanks!

Al Hamra seemed OK when I went, but I only went once.
Would like to try more things before making any broad statement.
Try it out for yourself.
Went early in the evening - wasn't crowded.

It has fantastic Greek food booth.
You can even try the best Kebabs and Moroccan Kuskus (cous cous)....
Of course it also features other Mediterranean countries as well...

Sounds like a nice place. Will bookmark and go there next time we are in Singapore.

For Greek food, I've been meaning to try Blu Kouzina in BT, but haven't made it yet...seems to get decent reviews. While I'm at it...anybody found a good place to get dolmas (stuffed grape leaves)? Our salads seem so tame without them.

Blu Kouzina just opened a second restaurant here. I read that they used extra virgin olive oil from their own estate for all their dishes.

Blu Kouzina is expanding because they are the best Greek food in town IMO (there has never been a good one prior to them opening, AFAIK). I’ve even taken Greek people there and they agreed. However, the portion size seems to have decreased recently which is a concern.
I usually get the hummus & pita. If you are a regular, you can ask them to add in some house bread (free) which is amazing (crusty outside, spongy inside), perfect for dipping in pool of olive oil / salt / pepper, and/or hummus too! We usually get the hamburg steaks (it’s not called that, but you get the idea) for a nice meat to blend in with the bread and dips.

Indeed Blu Kozina is about the only Greek in town ever been. There was one or two long time ago but disappeared. It is quite weird how the Greek influence in food never got here, when Australia is full of them and even manila has a great Greek restos. That was the kitchen I missed here occasionally from Europe and with no choice had to start cooking at home some time ago. Greek food is actually reasonably trouble free to cook, just get good ingredients.
My preferred recipe site is this
https://www.mygreekdish.com/
Everything starting from home made pita bread, and not trying to be trendy.
For the other topic in this old chat, best Lebanese in town and also highly recommend by my Lebanese neighbour is Kazbar
http://www.kazbar.com/
Good stuff and quite reasonably priced delivery and take away sets with good priced Lebanese wine also available of you need the full authentic package.

Sounds delicious. My one gripe about restaurants here is that unlike in the US, most don’t give any sort of free bread before the meal so you’re left waiting for your food while starving.

Greek food - Bakalaki at Tiong Bahru is quite nice in my opinion.

Order their recommended set "A TASTE OF LEBANON FOR 2-3 PAX" and add a bottle of Chateau Ksara Red. That's a great set to get into the flavors if you don't know exactly what you want or like.
I like most of the other dips too, not just hummus. Like the moutabel and babaghanoush (both eggplant based) and labneh.
So if you have a big family feast and want snacks, they have this whole dips and chips platter that comes with pita breads and dull variety, but it's a bit big set for current visiting restrictions.

Tried the siglap blu Kozina breaky today, really good. Available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday when they open from 8:30 onwards.
Nice Greek breakfast sets that would have been big enough for sharing for 2 actually, and might then add 1-2 extra sides.
Seems to be popular too.
