Singapore Expats

It seems trivial now in the bright lunchtime sunshine but at 2.30am whilst consoling and changing a soggy infant, finding a decent nappy that doesn't leak becomes an obsession!

Singapore's been great so far with everything as good or better than at home - all except this one product. I've tried several brands now and have experienced diaper disaster after diaper disaster!

Any recommendations please?

I use GOO.N diapers for my 4.5 months old. Have not given me any problems. Bought them online.

My neighbour is very happy with Pampers for her 2 year old.

I love love love Mamipoko diapers. I used them with my son when we were living in Jakarta and now my daughter here in Singapore. Honestly they are the best. Super absorbent and as the child gets older they have pull ups just for boys (more padding in the front) and for girls (more padding underneath). They are currently on sale at Carrefour $16 for 38 (usually $19 @ Marketplace) - but a friend was telling me that she buys them at Fairprice in bulk b/c they always have them on sale there.

How long do you leave the nappies on for? We change about 5 a day for a two year old, never had any problems with Pampers

how often you are changing the nappy? even the best of the best nappy has it's limitation.

I go with Pampers all the time, the night time ones should last all night.

I have also used Mamapoko when in Thailand and they were good but I would def try Pampers in the red packet here.

I change my 7-month old immediately before he retires for the night - cheeky people!

So far I've tried Pampers, Huggies, Drypers and another brand I can't remember the name of.

I've also tried to be 'green' and tried those organic bio-degradable ones stocked at the Marketplace but they had the flexibility and absorbancy of cardboard! Environmental conscience be damned!

My son is a very active sleeper - lots of roly-poly-ing and frequent use of the 'kneeling over with bottom stuck in the air' position so he does give nappies a good work out, however we never had the leakage problem before we moved here - about a month ago.

We used to use Pampers but I've lost brand loyalty now as they've annoyed me... they make a better quality in my country of origin which have elastic waist bands all the way around - not just an inch or two at the back - and sell them for less money. Having said that I've not found the night time variety so I'll seek these out and give these a go next along with Mamapoko and GOO.N.

Soon I shall become a walking encyclopedia of nappy brands - ah the fascinating life of a stay-at-home mum!

I use mami Poko for my eldest and they are great but i use cloth nappies for my youngest and i find them even better
