Places to live with children

Hi
My husband has just been offered a job in Singapore.
We have 3 children aged 5,3 and 1.
Could anyone recommend the best areas to live for families? My husband would be working in the Orchard area.

Depends on budget, near your kids school or your hubbies office would be a good choice as he can zip home for lunch.

Hmmm... what sort of budget would we be looking for to get a 4 bed place near Orchard?

For a nice new
condo about 20k sing a month, about 2800sq ft, older ones are cheaper and ones with no pools etc are even cheaper, like I said it all depends on your budget

We should find out what our budget is in the next couple of weeks. But $20K a month sounds ridiculously expensive! At least compared to what we pay now here in the UK...
Schools.... I have no idea... I'm having real trouble finding one that will take them at the moment - they all seem to be full! Any ideas???

You can definitely get a 4 bedroom apartment near Orchard for under $20k. Definitely look at the ads on this and other expat portals. If your employer offers relocation assistance then you should get an agent who will help you find a suitable place to meet your budget.
You just need patience as from my experience you will shown a lot of ordinary apartments before you find the right place. Just be pesistance as there are some nice apartments with good facilities for less than $15k near Orchard Rd

The rental market is heart-stoppingly expensive if you compare to the general UK market - however if you think of Orchard as the equivalent to Chelsea then it makes more sense. £15k will get you a large (3,600sqft 4 bed) apartment in a 20-year old block just off Orchard.

At least singapore is still cheaper than central london!! By local standards a 20 year old block is prehistioric, many are pulled down when they reach that sort age.
Locals are shocked when you tell them you live in a 200 year old house in the UK.
