Hello,

I posted in the Careers & Jobs in Singapore section a couple of months ago asking questions relating to job opportunities in project construction management and I received a great response. To cut a long story short I have now accepted a job with a German company which is operating in Singapore and I shall be moving to Singapore in a few months.

This evening I am starting to look into Singapore property, house prices, house rental prices etc, since I received good advice on my previous visit here this is my first port of call. I hope someone can take the time to answer a few of the questions I have posted below.

1) Website recommendations relating to Singapore property, information, buying, renting etc.
2) I have £30 000 (S$80 000) as a deposit for a house purchase and I shall be earning S$4.5K a month, what location and house is in my budget. I am 25 years old and single.

Thank you for your help.

I don't know if anything is within your budget. I'm going to be earning that and struggling to afford to pay for a single room in an apartment

Then somebody is living way to high on the hog! A room at the most could cost you around $1500/mo but more than likely between $800-1000/mo unless you insist on renting in a condo with all the facilities and being within 10 minutes of the CBD. Single @ 4.5K/mo is easily doable unless you have a serious drinking problem, insist on having a car and/or taking taxi's everywhere or must eat out in restaurants every night.

Yes, but he's interested in buying an apartment (not renting a room) at 4.5k/month.

4.5k/month is very very doable (very comfortably , even). Atm a master room will be about 1.2k. However, I don't know how you can buy a property earning that

As a foreigner you'll have to buy private property (assuming you want to buy in the first place).

Prices are quite high at the moment. I wouldn't recommend buying.
