Just wondering if anyone knows what the guidelines are for employing two maids. Is there a minimum number of children in the household or annual income? Someone told me MOM has rules as to who can hire two maids. Thanks.

my neighbor has one child and 2 helpers - so i'm not sure you have to have a certain number of children. i also know several people with twins or 2 children who have 2 helpers.

What I know is that, for 1 maid you need to have a annual income tax of 30k,so to employ two maids it will be 60k. This was what a agent explained to me.

We have two maids and three children (one with a terminal disease). It was easy to get our second maid, and she is the sister of our first maid (and unfortunately nowhere near as good - but that's another story). I thought you had to have 2 children, but perhaps I am wrong. Afterall, people without any kids can have a maid. I know of a local couple without any kids and they have 2 maids - but then they have 2 dogs and don't like to walk them themselves so the maids do that - once again, another story.

we have two maids and as I applied for the second one, the requirements were : annual income more than 40K, have at least two preschool children and stay in a minimum 4 room flat
Usually first application for a second maid will be rejected, then you/agent should submit an appeal, they will approve it in about 1 week

Our second maid was approved the first time around which is unusual. We hired her when our friends moved out of the country suddenly and I'm afraid to say how nice it is to have her here. If you can give reasons why you may need a second one: husband who travels constantly, large house, small children, elderly relative, etc... your appeal might go through -- that's what the agent told us.

I'm just curious to know where you all are putting the second maid!

They share the maid's house, which is quite spacious. They are also old friends, best friends really so they're happy to share.

Our two maids are sisters and share a bedroom. It isn't a typical maid's room (bomb shelter). They have a normal sized bedroom with built in wardrobes, aircon and an ensuite bathroom. We have put two king-single beds in there for them. The only problem is, one of the girls snores and it drives the other one crazy!
