Singapore Expats

I am keen to try Sky-diving and am wondering if anyone out there are interested as well.

Nothing is firm yet, but the rough idea is this

- Depart Sg to KL via coach on Friday night
- Do a 2 day course, do either 1 or 2 jumps
- Return on Sunday evening

I managed to find this school and the rates don't seem too obscene.

Cost wise, it will cost RM800 for 1 jump and RM1,250 for 2 jumps (i think this includes the course fees, equipment, etc) plus 2 night stay in a hotel in Bangsar (which will probably cost between RM$150 - $400/night, depending which hotel you are staying).

I have send an email to check it out, but just curious is there anyone else who might be interested?

I think Ballzaction and Black Bear Sky Dive are no longer doing sky diving. I sent both emails, but didn't get any replies.

I have contacted another Sky Diving shop (Titan Dive Team), and the guy promised to come back with a quote, so I don't have much details except for

- It will be somewhere in Johor. The guy can arrange for transaport to pick us up in Singapore, if there are sufficient people

- It will be over a weekend. Sat will be the theory course (half day, PM), and Sun will be the day we "Jump". The whole thing should be over around 3 - 4 PM.

- The plane they used is Chester (something), and it seats 2 jumper each time.

- The height is about 3,000 to 4,000 feet.

- They don't have any death casualty (yet). Important information! At least for me...

Tentaively, I have about 3-4 people who are interested, and we are looking at somewhere around November. Titan does static, but I know they have a tandem instructor. He is not always around, so if you are keen to do tandem, we might need to fit around his schedule. Let me know if you are still interested!

Sounds like fun, iw as actulaly plannign a trip to nz for pretty much the same thing. (dont ask, just have been fixed on doing it there)

But this sounds like fun. Tandem jumps, wouldnt require a course would they? and might be a lot cheaper?

I'd love to give it a try but I've never sky dived before, is it still ok ? November sounds nice.

I'm no expert, but isn't 3 to 4k feet too low for jumping? I've only jumped 5 times but always above 14k feet in altitude...

Do you have room for one or two more?

i believe that's for static-line jumps (3500-4000 feet).

be careful and set up nicely for your landing. my knees and ankles are ruined.

weekends in novemer, beginnning december works for me

i did a few static line jumps in the military and it was free.

for a short period of time i paid to learn freefalling and freeflying (i started at 12,000" and went up to 15,000" sometimes). that's quite a few minutes of thrill. pow! my mouth exploding because i didn't close it... ha!

formation jumps can also be learned but that never interest me.

you'll probably begin to learn how to freefall with 1, 2 or 3 ($) instructors and a radio and your mind goes into overdrive while you figure out what the heck you're supposed to do and why you're in the sky with people yelling instructions to you.

as you progress, you'll be taught how to move during freefall (forward, hovering, turns, docks, loops, etc) over time.

you'll have to do consolidation jumps to practice what you've learned/been taught and be assessed.

so that goes on... you learn to land on target, buy goggles, maybe learn to pack, try not to do anything stupid while you prolong your freefall, get licensed... buy more gear... realize you're spending a lot of time hanging out some rather strange people and now have a much lighter pocket book...!

then it's a matter of time before you get tattoos... learn to be an instructor... ride a motorcycle... beginning with perhaps a baby ninja... then an r6 or r1... then...

before you know it, you'd have ran off to join criss angel and hang out with hugh hefner's ex girlfriends, and to make money you become a stuntman... FLEE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!
