We're planning to move to Singapore next year and would love to get some insight info from the current expats. If you have a trip home..what would you buy back to Singapore?

Depends where "home" is.

I don't buy anything from the UK but given a chance, my wife would bring the whole of Hong Kong back in her case.

I'd love to pack my city in the suitcase too

All depends on what size bra you are. I bought some yesterday from Wacoal and it was cheaper than I could get in the UK by miles. My advise is bring what you have if you get free shipping, not the rubbish though. But dont go and buy especially unless you cant live without a certain brand etc. And dont do the " I will start all over once I get to SG"
I cant wait to see all my clutter again, it will make it feel like home.

Our care packages usually consist of the following (From Australia):

Codeine (ssshhhhh!)

Wine (yes we declare it and pay the duty)

If you are a western woman over 5'7" tall and you like to wear Jeans, you might want to pick up a couple of pair there before coming here. Not only are they double the price if you like Levi's but they are made in the Philippines or PRC and for the women they are not that flattering as they will make you look flatter! and for the guys they are cut like cheap hotels. They are cut for the average asian build an not western build.

Also, if you wear a d-cup or fuller you're selections here are limited to about a handful of stores and limited styles and numbers. The leg lengths are hard here for women over 5'8" as well. I understand it is extremely hard to find unpadded bras here as well. The locals have a hangup about an excited nipple or two for some reason.

hair care products!!! i always stock up at the beauty supply when i'm home. i also hit up aveda. same with swimwear, shoes & jeans. i'm 5'11 and wear a US 6/8 and the cut is definitely different here (quite short). you can really find everything here in singapore and these are simply luxury items that i bring back - certainly not necessities. i also bring back thousands of sheets of downy fabric softener (the smell reminds me of my youth) and usually throw in some advil, secret, and various assorted snacks (red vines, milk duds, goldfish pretzels...etc).
if i was packing my container again i'd load it with bedding and towels...
damn those airline weight restrictions!!

picture hooks!!! the B&Q ones with 3 pins and loads of Earl Grey tea. It is true you can find most things here but you have to shop around.

Is that why all the bras are padded!

@Callalilly - we've got onto the new 3M removable adhesive thingies (! technical term!). You can get them at your local Home-Fix, Cold Storage, NTUC etc. We've used them extensively and they hold various types of pictures/frames. The other good thing is you can remove them without damaging the walls! And yes, we've tested them.

If you remember the crazy TV ads from years back then..... i am the one that bought a "Duzzit Handy Hanger". I couldn't get anything to stick to the wallpaper in my HK apartment and the walls were rock solid so as a last resort i bought one, and strangely, it works.

I had my wisdom tooth pulled in Singapore and the dentist gave me something that we equavelent to Panadol. Ouch!
