Singapore Expats

Office is located beside the Bugis MRT, which will be a good area to live?

I have hated the crowd in China, and surprisingly noise level in Singapore is nearly unbearable!!! Will be wonderful to have a less crowded area...

Would like to live OK and not paying sky high for the rental.

Any opinion shared is much appreciated.

Within walking distance would be places like

The Bencoolen and Burlington Square

Marine parade/Vista or somethin arnd ECP would be peaceful areas...
it ll take 20-30 mins to reach bugis by bus/mrt..

Follow the East-West MRT Line (the green line). You have a wide choice like Jurong West, Jurong East, Clementi, Dover/Holland, Commonwealth, Bedok, Tampines, Pasir Ris - depending on how much time you are prepared to spent on the MRT.

I work at Bugis in "Gotham City" and live Siglap East Coast, takes me less than 30 minutes door to door by bus

It is more convienant to stay near the MRT station especially the East-West line. For instance, directly train from Tanah Merah station to Bugis station (without the need to transfer train) only take around 15 mins. It may be more costly to stay near MRT.

Would you stay next to Tanah Merah MRT?

There are few condo such as East Meadows and D'manor (cluster house) within 5 mins walking distance to Tanah Merah MRT station. Noticed that it is quite popular with expat too. Moreover, there are empty train starting from Tanah Merah MRT during peak hour. Can get plenty of empty seats.

for Bugis should should go for the green line, east west if i'm not wrong?
then follow up.. depending on the budget, go for areas like

tampines, simei, tanah merah and bedok.
takes you 20 to 30mins by train down to bugis plus rent is really much cheaper than places near town, the difference can be around 1k to 2k for the same kind of square metre.

you could look at east point green, savanah, meville park for the simei area,
tanah merah crest, east meadows for tanah merah.

i would not qualify Tampines as a "less crowded area"...
