okay,

i checked the ERP rates on the onemotoring website and it's CRAZY! those are high street crack prices!!!

so after prowling google maps, i finally worked out a way of getting the wife (who works in singapore & i will be visiting her for 16 weeks!!!) to her office without having to pay a single ERP charge.

the city appears fully surrounded by damn ERP gantries so i think the best way for me (i don't cook so i buy my meals from takashimaya/shaw center daily) is to park at wheelock place or the open air carpark beside wheelock place.

those of you who commute; do you just wake up earlier to avoid the traffic? coz looking at morning online traffic cams yesterday didn't seem to give me the impression that ERP really works to cut congestion on expressways...

Can someone tell me why taxis, buses etc have to pay the ERP charges anyway?

I don't think public transport buses do pay ERP. Not 100% sure on that though. Taxi's do because they, like the rest of vehicle drivers are not really mass people movers so therefore are not passenger/km efficient like an SMS or SMRT bus would be.

Yeah, I take the Bus and MRT as well and I work in Enterprise Hub and live in Serangoon Nth! Quite a run each way! Interesting though, during peak hours it only take ~15-20 minutes longer using Bus/MRT than it does using a private vehicle. And I don't get aggravated at the other idiots that shouldn't even be allowed to touch a car let alone drive one. Instead I play games or read and relax.

i was in singapore a a fortnight a few months back and the public transport system drove me insane; they were full of people i wanted to yell at or pinch.

but unfortunately this time i can't do this twice a day (actually four times a day) as i have spousal chauffeur duties for those 16 weeks...

and since a car's at my disposal, i'm gonna make use of it! i'm gonna find a way to get into the city without having to pay, i tell you!!! akjhastaa)@@)(

the city is all covered in ERP. the whole point to to reduce traffic. if you want to be part of the traffic, then you have to Pay And Pay.

i like the bus with the air-cond on full blast. so shoik. can you not ask the wife to take the bus instead? (would that reduce you to sleeping on the sofa?)

Yeah, it doesn't really work. You just have to get used to it
But it is not just expressways...The locals and school kids crossing the roads walking like ducks...that's what drives my husband insane

public transport is driving me crazy too and I too agree that the ERP system is not helping with the road congestion. I stay in Woodlands and work in Taman Jurong. Takes me an hour to go to work if I take public transport and takes me the same amount of time if I drive because the expressway is always jammed!
