Singapore Expats

been seeing a fair bit of kids in school uniform smoking at bus stop. is there a legal age in singapore to buy fags? and legal age to smoke them?

Either 16 or 18, I can't remember which exactly.

Cigarettes and Smoking
Under the age of 18, you are not allowed to carry and purchase lit or unlit cigarettes in public. Fine S$ 2,000

It is an offence under the Miscellaneous Offences Act to walk naked in the privacy of your own home. You can be fined up to SGD 2,000 and be jailed up to three months if you are convicted of appearing nude and exposing yourself to public view in a private place.

Crikey - that's a problem! I think it's a Government and energy company conspiracy, personally - this way, they make Ms C and I put our clothes on, close the windows, and turn the air con on!

Good to know. Now I can't move back to SG. Hubby does not make enough money to keep paying those fines . We are a casual family especially when it comes to (un)clothing.

I've always wondered. Why the hell are people looking into other people's homes for naked people in the first place? Furtive voyeurs aside, I don't look out of my window to check out what my neighbours are doing....or (not) wearing for that matter....

Frankly, I don't either, but with the heavy proliferation of HDB Estates with buildings crammed up against one another, it's easy to see how it could be happenstance. While an adult might not be too worried (although HDB dwellers are seemingly worried about every little thing) what young children may observe is something else again. Also, how many perv Kong Kong's are there in Singapore? Looking at the proliferation of PRC gals working the Kopi Tiam's around the island and always with Kong Kong's maybe they sit around in their PJ's with binoculars on the 2oth floor of their units?!?
