Singapore Expats

Has anyone used a lawyer in Singapore to prepare a will? I want to be able to insure that any assets I have in Singapore and Asia can be handled by my US executors.

I used a lawyer from Khattar Wong about 5 years ago, he was very professional and explained singapore law in relation to the other laws etc. I need to dig up my bill to see what his name is again or you could call them and make an appointment with one handling wills. I don't remember how much it was but i remember it as reasonable.

I got mine done at home in NZ....

Can try online will too I got told.

Back home, my lawyer said you can do will anywhere, even online, as long as there's a witness and your will states clearly what you want with your assets in all locations , then it shall apply.

just did mine, via my UK lawyer very painless, just get the locals to act as witness. but it does depends on how long you have live here and which country laws will be applicable.

Friends, just expanding on SE's OP - has anyone else got an Enduring Power of Attorney and an Advance Medical Directive - basically an EPA gives the wife control of my assets in the event of bad medical stuff, and the second authorises doctors to terminate life support in certain medical situations.

Ours are witnessed by our solicitors back in Australia, but I am wondering if we need a version now that we live here?

Perhaps it's more a question for a legal practitioner, but if anyone has had any experience then I'd dearly appreciate it!!!

Was told that Deloittes do this kind of work, more focusing on Tax Planning, inheratence issues and minimizing costs, Trusts and the likes.

I've not done it myself yet......it's another on my To-Do List
