NEED TO BUY A NEW STROLLER - WHERE'S THE BEST PLACE TO GO?

Our old stroller is about to fall apart - literally!

Planning to go and buy a new one this weekend but not sure which place has the best selection.

Any suggestions? I need a fairly sturdy one as we do a lot of walking here compared to back home (don't have a car here).

Hi folks

Thanks for your replies. I've only found one Mothercare here so far - in Plaza Singapura - but they didn't have very many to choose from (and they're quite expensive).

I've tried looking up Baby Superstore online but I can't find it - can you tell me whereabouts it is. Thanks.

Mothercare is very expensive - we got ours from First Few Years at Paragon but I have since found them cheaper at Baby Hypermarket - I was gutted to find better models than ours for less money. I am still reeling about it now.

Anyway, there's Baby Kingdom and Baby Hypermarket at Shun Li Industrial Park, Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 - near Kambangan MRT. Baby Kingdom is a waste of space, very small and not much choice. My hubby wanted to kill someone within 5 minutes of being in there.

Baby Hypermarket doesn't look much to start off with when you first go in but the main show room is on the 3rd floor. Again it's cramped but there's loads of strollers in there and the prices are good too.

Takashamaya has a collection as well which aren't too bad.

bocat32 - definitely check out baby hypermarket! we'd already been through a bugaboo and phil & ted's and quite honestly there was no way i was going to invest a small fortune in yet another stroller since we decided to stop having kids.
baby hypermarket was a bit of a taxi-ride - but definitely worth it. i told the salesgirl what i was looking for and she sold me a brand new quinny for $400 b/c the color was an odd lot and it was sold under the maxi-cosi name before they changed over. essentially it was an older model - but still in the box and under warranty. it wasn't on display - but they have a lot of models like the one i asked for if you just tell them what you're looking for and that you don't want to invest a fortune in yet another stroller.
i also picked up a travel booster seat for a fraction of what i'd seen it listed as in mother's work.
hope this helps!

We bought a Maclaren Daytripper at Carrefour in Suntec last January. Our daughter is 4, so she doesn't really need one, it's more just to help us move along when she gets tired, and wants to play her L-Max games.

It folds up nicely and has been very sturdy, even though she's over 40 LB.

I think it was around S$180.

There is also a pretty good selection at Toys R Us. I particularly noticed the ones at Forum, as they're right there at the entrance. Not sure about prices, as we're no longer in the market.

Hi folks

Thanks for all your replies. We didn't actually make it out to go stroller shopping today (I still can't get used to not calling it a buggy!) but all your suggestions have been great.

Think we'll take a trip out to Baby Hypermarket (and try not to buy loads of other stuff while I'm there...!)

It really depends what brand you are looking for...OG and BHG shopping centres now running 20% discount although they hold small range.

Babytown is having a sale on strollers right now. We bought a crib from them - the customer service is phenomenal and prices are reasonable. But everything is online so you can't really try it out.

http://www.babytown.com.sg/

Also, the Kiddy Palace at Marina Square had quite a few, but also a bit on the pricey side. And I've seen some posted on www.craigslist.org.
