Depends on the Bank, the economy, the exposure to sub-prime and whether or not the bank is going to stay afloat I would guess. The jump to MD may well be a drop down to $1 looking at some of the CEO in the financial industries worldwide at the moment.

Hi sundaymorningstaple,

How about before this financial crisis, as in the standard average increment from analyst to associate to AVP to VP to MD for local banks ? As in the incremet due to title change.

Generally, the title change not necessarily can bring a significant increment as the banks use salary bands. For example,

AVP Salary Range: $5500 to $8500 and VP Salary Range: $7500 to $11000.

If an AVP whose salary is $7700 promoted to VP may or may not having a significant pay increase.

From the example we can also see sometime the AVP's pay is higher than some VPs. However, the AVP benefits are lower and significantly different from that of VP or SVP.

PLS: The numbers are hypothetical and don't reflect the real numbers in the industry.

Just noted your signature. "I love my kids especially the smallest one" isn't discriminating the others.

hey banker, i have to agree with the others, a promotion these days doesnt necesarilly means a pay rise, unfortunatelt though.
Usually it does, but i guess due to the situation these days, you wont have any significant changes, the only important thing might be changes in number of annual holidays, insurance benefits, travel expenses etc...

It depends on the bank; most have been hit hard. Where are you moving from?
