I appreciate it's a serious question, but I have to say "RICHER".
I'm sure Ms. C will reply with a more serious response for you!
Cheers, Mr. P

Guess it depends on which pocket they are carrying their phone in when the man rings her up. I've been told they love the vibrate alert mode!

does the woman need to have caller's ID first? coz with caller's ID, the feeling might be different.

SMS - in terms of the vibrate mode, it seems you SHOULD have looked at one of the advertisers here - lovelifemore.com
I cracked up when I read your post because just above it, in the inline ads, was the LLM ad!
Cheers, P

Depends on the circumstances - Is it an engagement ring or just a gift?

I only accept diamonds from my partner. If a friend gave me diamonds I would find that very odd and wonder whats going on.
But a HTC Touch HD, now we talking. And if my husband asked me if I wanted diamonds or a HTC right now a HTC.

Are you refering to me as Ms. C??? haha....
well uhm... hmmm. Not sure which angle the story should come from but when my husband proposed I thought something was wrong, he said something like, I"ld like you to be the mother of my children the grangmother of my grandchildren but he did not get on his knees and I thought maybe the food was off, then he pulled out a diamond ring on his finger (not from a box) and my first words were not... yes but oh you are serious...
My family are diamond wholesalers for over 50 years, I spent part of my childhood "grading" diamonds... I don't personally enjoy wearing them or have much allure to them but I was happy to get the ring from my husband.
I remember staring at it at work the next week gaga-ly. I used to think the adverts my cousin puts out were too "emotional" based, I mean how can you put emotions into a rock and how can people tie emotions to one (like friends who would not have an old ring that was bought for someone else). But I eat my words.
Now that we leave S. Africa, which I have not worn my ring for over 2 years, I am looking forward to wearing it again, worse.... I feel like I should also wear my tennis bracelet and a few more items, I hope I don't end up like a christmas tree! but in terms of buying any more new ones... the blood diamonds bother me alot.
So although I was happy, elated with my engagement ring, other subsequent ones don't make me happy or warm or fuzzy or loved or secure.

Depending on who the man is, the feeling could range from wild euphoria to mild amusement to blind panic to grimly suicidal.

Let's make it an engagement ring...just to be specific..
In that case, would depend how/when.
An engagement ring in a short relationship..... either you're stupidly in love.. or just stupid.
An engagement ring during a serious relationship - the gal will probably be thrilled, if the relationship seemed to be heading in that direction. Or maybe thrilled just to get a peice of bling.
from a personal experiance, an ex bf reached into his pocket for a box and for some reason I thought it was an engagement ring (small box) all I could think was nooooooooooooooooooo!!!! along with repeating the F word in my head over and over.

The sheer terror in my eyes must have shown because he laughed and said it was earrings. Phew.
Point is... Even if its an engagement ring, the response is not always going to be positive. Buying a ring for your significant other just as a gift may not be the best way to show affection. Try a necklace, bracelet, earrings etc etc.

depends on how much or how serious i am with the guy....
it'll probably end up like
* man pulls out ring *
* my life flashes before my eyes... slow mo *
* sweats * * 3 seconds to decide the answer to continue or ruin it all ( sounds like some LOTR installment ) *
* sweats even more * * gets stuck with indecision *
* pretends to faint *
actually i'd feel happy either way because usually a ring from a man, whether engagement or not signifies that he wants commitment and we all god dam know how hard it is to pry commitment out of a guy
