Singapore Expats

I am trying to find some work in Singapore since we are moving there in the summer. My husband will have a job but I don't. Even just trying to find Real Estate Agent I have had no luck. Can somebody please tell me what is a good site if you're looking for jobs?

Hi Debbie, I think its best if you apply directly to a company, rather than through a job listing site. Firstly because 99,9% of job offers on job listing sites will have the "Only citizens or PR holders may apply" note, secondly because job listing sites are dominated by job agencies, that are VERY unlikely to hire expats.

Applying directly to a company you are interested in will give you a better change to present yourself, and if needed explain that you can get a dependency pass from you husband, etc.

Okay. I will try that. If I get a dependency pass, will they be able to hire me or do I need any other type of work permit?

You will need a Letter of Consent. This will be applied for by the potential employer as is something that few employer know about. Like an Employment Pass, there are nor levies involved. It would be tied to your spouse's EP meaning it would expire when his does and would be renewed if his is renewed. You will need to learn about the LoC because you will have to educate the potential employer in most cases.

That's a good recruitment site if you don't have any qualifications or don't care who you work for. If it were any good it would be well known. Frankly, very few of the "local" job boards are worth a darn. Only one worth looking at are the ones that are at least regional or worldwide in scope. Have you had any luck on the job front? I have been here for a month now and applying for jobs with no luck. I don't even get a reply, so not short listed!! It is getting very upsetting. I was in a middle management role in operations of a government department in NZ. I have varies skills but just can't seem to get my foot in the door over here!!

I used to work for this company PeopleSearch..think they do job placement for expats as well.

Thanks for this link, i hope my wife would be able to find a job.. but i see LOTSA Google Ads than JOBS Even she wants a low paying job just to utilise her free time, she don't get it.. How pathetic it is..

sorry a little off topic maybe but with websites like jobsdb and such...r they likely to hire a foreigner like me? i understand how chances are slima t the moment seeing the recession but in a year or 2 maybe even? i have a geography university degree, taught english at a kindergarten for 6 months and worked at front desk in a hotel for a year now. ive both canadian and hk nationalities. im planning to work in hospitality or teach english possibly as well...help anyone?
