shipping personal items from Sydney

Im relocating to Singapore from Sydney, Australia. I am trying to find the cheapest method for transporting my belongings. I can only take 30kg on the plane with me.
I only have personal articles such as small electronic items, clothes, shoes, make up, cosmetics etc (but I have a lot of it).
The only option I know of is Australia Post, which is $220 for 20kg.
Does anyone know of any cheaper options for large loads?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried looking at international removal companies if you don't require your personal items in a hurry as it take at least a month. If you decide to go that way, try to estimate how many boxes you will have etc and get a quote from them. I think you will found that it is cheaper than posting through Australia post.
If it is getting too expensive, thought about buying it all new in Singapore?

OK apart from Aus Post you also have international courier companies such as FedEx (my preferred one) and DHL (who I believe have some specials on at the moment).
You other option is to back-fill an existing container. We used Move Management Australa (let me know if you want their details) for our move, but didn't backfill, but they said they do it all the time.

I just used my local Pack & Send; I think it was about $400 for eight 30kg cartons to be sent by sea. Took about 3 weeks to reach the port here. If you're shipping by sea, the local agent charges another $200 or thereabouts to handle customs clearance and delivery to your home.
Remember to get a GST waiver form from the shipper, just in case customs tries to charge GST on the declared value of your shipment (e.g. if you insure the shipment). Personal effects are exempt, but they'll try anyway.
Also sent a shipment by air through Pack & Send, cost about $600 for three 20kg cartons so not dissimilar to AusPost. Took about 3 days, and was delivered to the door by DHL (or TNT, I can't remember).
I'd really suggest airfreight because there's less mucking about with paperwork and stuff. Economies of scale apply in either case, so the more boxes you send the cheaper it is per box.
