Singapore Expats

Computer science engineer having around 5 years of experience.Looking for a job in embedded software.Can anyone let me know the scenario here?!

Tough. Unless you have something special to bring to the table. Lots of competition from the locals which means that the potential employer would have to justify WHY he wanted to hire a foreigner where there are local available. Times are getting rough with MOM clamping down of frivolous hiring of foreigners. government want to keep it's citizens employed if at all possible and rightly so. However, as I said, if you have a niche that is not already covered here then you might be able to swing it.

Actually, I'm specialized in a niche application. And consultants in my field of expertise are pretty hard to come by. But unfortunately there are no requirements in Singapore for my skillset. Yet, I'm still hoping that I could get a job in another more common field and once I'm there I would try to find a position that suits my expertise. Do you suppose that might work?

Would you mind to share what kind of "niche area" or "embedded software" are both of you into ?

In this time and age, better to find something that could make you able to sustain yourself. Relying on employers especially in this kind of area as an engineer is "tough".

...although frankly, I have a hard time imagining a technical niche so specialized that there's no demand for it in all of Singapore?
