Singapore Expats

Are Glutton Free products available in Singapore - Specifically breads. I have a wheat intolerance (regrettably Australian wheat in particular) and in Australia & Europe there are ample Glutton Free products.. Any suggestions within Singapore

I'm sure you mean gluten?? Yes, you can get gluten free products at a variety of health food stores and in certain markets like Tanglin. Try Brown Rice Paradise and the one in the basement of Great World City. There will be others that know more about this than me...

For freshly baked gluten free breads - you can try any of the Cedele bakery/restaurants (Tanglin Mall, Wheelock, Great World City & Raffles City). For gluten free products you may have to look around the shelves at the non-specialty grocery stores - but you will definitely find them at the specialty organic/vegetarian shops: Brown Rice Paradise, Supernature, Organic Hut, Vitakids and like R.N.T mentioned the shop in the basement of Great World City. Cedele offers gluten free dining and also check out the Fortune Centre on Middle/Bencoolen street. This is a haven for local vegan fare (at hawker stall prices!)

OI! I'm still hugging the 85kg limit . . . at 6'2 that's not too bad . . . though I have recently understood Newton and had to move to a size 36 waist. I ut it down to too much exercise. Logic was always my strong point.

Hey Undine, I'm sorry for not saying anything about gluten-free products on this thread, simply because I know little about it. Just wanted to clarify that it was not you I was bollocking - just having some fun with the other regulars. You're not the only one who makes spelling errors here - most others do though only you and Vaucluse have admitted it!

Since Singapore prides itself on it's passion for food -- a glutton free food really would be an eye opener!

On a serious note: coeliac disease is not really an Asian problem, but the good new is ( ) Australians are being diagnosed with it in droves. So there are products here that are gluten free, a lot of which come from down under. You can though, eat yourself sick with gluten free pastas, cookies, snacks -- so they are not yet glutton free.

Ah, glutton for gluten gives a glimmer of glee. Some may glower, but me I'm just glad.
