Singapore Expats

My mother sent a package with children's dvds over a month ago and they have not shown up. Is this typical? Is there any way to check on them?

Yep & Nope. Unless they were sent priority mail. We routinely have mail delivery problems (two Xmas cards sent TO the US on 10 Dec arrived on 20 January? I've had mail go missing coming this way from Maryland go missing for as long as 3 months before turning up. One going the other way took 3 months and when received it had apparently sat for some time at a post office in Minnesota which is a long, long way from Maryland?? Not sure which postal service is worse though.

If they were obviously DVD's, might be that someone is screening through them.

If so, hopefully you won't get stuck with a bill for their time spent doing so.

I had the same issue over Christmas with a box my mom sent with toys. Did she send it priority? She would have a number on the receipt - you can call the Singapore post office and they can track it.

Thanks, everyone. I know my mother wrote children's dvds on the customs form. I was under the impression children's dvds were not a problem and would not be viewed. Was I wrong about that? Sadly, my mother does not remember how she sent them and if she ever had a tracking number then it is long gone. Hopefully, it will turn up soon!

We get a lot of DVDs in the mail from various relatives for the kids and it's never been an issue. Chances are it's simply sitting somewhere and will come to you eventually. Tell your mom not to be disheartened about sending things in the mail - this is probably just a one-off. Also going forward have her keep the receipt at the post office - it should have a number on it they can trace. Hope they arrive soon!

We have had stuff arrive in as little as 7 days. . .or as long as 60. It's just a hit and miss kind of thing.

The only DVDs I've had shipped were children's titles, purchased from Amazon. They arrived fully sealed and undisturbed.

JimH5 I agree. Most things usually arrive in good order in 7 to 10 days. But once or twice a years going one way or the other it tends to go missing for a month or two.

you should contact the main post office in Singapore. I had mail incorrectly addressed and they kept it there and I tracked it down. They can be very helpful. Good Luck

Yes just phone in and ask the overseas dept, same happend to me, wrong address was on the parcel
