Singapore Expats

Hi need any help or reccommendations/ experiences. We're moving back in July and have already submitted all the papers to AVA. When do they revert usually on the space? one month, 2 weeks?

we are using a mover to help us clear the process in Shanghai but is it neccessary to engage a mover in singapore if we're planning to bring 2 cats on as extra baggage? or is it better to do it on our own? IF we need a mover, which one is best?

One of my cats did not have a good experience moving to shanghai so he can get quite aggressive. Has anyone experienced moving an aggressive cat? any reccommendations on how to handke the move or how it was handled by singapore side.

Any help on this matter is much appreciated as I'm quite stressed by this move.

We used a mover to bring our cat over from Canada as we were already here. But to be honest, I ended up dealing with AVA myself as the mover was clueless and also picked him up from the airport myself and checked him into quarantine. So there is no reason that you can't do it yourself and bring them in as excess baggage. A lot cheaper that way!

AVA were pretty good coming back with a date. If you know when you'll be coming back, it might be worth booking in early to make sure that you can get your cat into a/c kennels. Also, I would request a space with a window (as about half the little cat rooms have windows and half don't). If I'd known that I would have got my cat one with a window as he was pretty bored.

So long as you have all of your documentation, it is not difficult to collect your cats from the cargo area at the airport (bit of waiting around though). The quarantine reception area is not far from there (also at the airport) so you literally go from one to another and in fact one of the forklift drivers gave me a lift over!

If your cat had a bad experience before, it might be worth handling it yourself to make sure that you can make things go as well as possible. One thing I would suggest is to buy a product called Dryfur (from the States). It is great for lining the bottom of their cages and stops them sliding around when in the air/in transit. Also if they need to pee or their water spills, it wicks the moisture away so your cat will be comfy.

Thanks for the reply. I've booked the non-aircon cattery cos my cats are actually from Singapore and they don't really like a/c. I'll try asking for window.
