Diving for Beginners

I'd like to do a beginner's diving course and am looking for recommendations as to where to go. Happy to take some time off work and travel a bit for somewhere good, although being a beginner maybe I'd be happy with somewhere experienced divers would find boring?!

I suppose the main thing to consider is the quality of the instruction (particularly the safety aspect!).

Any advice gratefully received especially from anyone who's done anything similar.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice. I don't seem to be getting notifications any more so I didn't see them until just now when I posted a new topic! Will have to keep a closer eye!
