Singapore Expats

Hi all,

Few days ago, I got a call from a UK recruitment company and they asked if i am interested to relocate to Singapore for work. I am working in IT development field (Microsoft) in Australia.

I would like to know what it's like working in Singapore? Like, I really like to change my environment and get to a more liveful city, but i heard some very scary stories from some of my friends working there, like they said it;s basically 8am - 8pm kind of work every week...and collegues trying to be competitive over you etc etc.

Is there anyone working in .NET development field? The salary they offering is around 5K, is that enough to survive in Singapore? I heard singapore is one of the most expensive cities in the world?

5K is more than enough, if you're single.

Working schedule will depend on each company's culture.

Singapore is expensive, but London is a LOT more expensive.
I don't know about Australia.

Competitive colleagues will also depend on your attitude, and their cultures, origins, etc.

It will vary, as long as you're a good developer, time and your work results will gain you respect from colleagues.

Anyway, I'm not a .NET developer, so I don't know.

But, I don't think that your expertise in specific technology will determine your salary, it's more on how your employer perceives your value, unless if there's a very clear salary standard on that.
