Recommendation to be a Cabin Crew

Hello all!
I thought I'd start a topic on recommendations by senior cabin crews to enter the aviation industry as a Flight Attendant.
So, I've a sister who's with an international airline in the Middle East, and I've heard stories on how one could get recommended by friends or sibilings alike, into the line.
However, I'm plain clueless on how feasible it is. I mean, should one be recommended, does that mean he/she would be exempted from the initial rounds of interviews? If that is not the case, does it make any sense for recommendations then?
Comments and personal experiences to share are all deeply appreciated

You may well find they are just that.

You have high hopes!!

Hi planejane,
I too have a close relative in EK,but apparently recommendation is not likely to get selected in this airline..Even her younger sister is no exception to get 'shortcut'..Guess everyone still has to go through all the whole rounds

Heee, well I expected that though, bluexob.
And my dear Plavt, I do not have high hopes on that, I was merely curious, being oblivious of the procedures.
Thanks anyhow!

A Cabin Crew will not have the power to do such things. If the CC knows the Management very very well then he can make wonders. Not everyone can put string, only those at the high level or knows someone who can do that can do it for you. For audit purposes and transparency, it is only logical that you went thru all the interviews and get all the paper work done to cover up the "special arrangement". If I were to get into the company thru sting pulling, do you think that I will go and tell others? I certainly will not want to cause problem to my "Backer" and have people taking behind my back saying that I am the one who got thru from the back door.
Working hard might just bring you there, but knowing the right people will definitely bring you there. Ohh.....How I hope I have someone to push me to the top......

Do u have friend in CX or SQ that got in by recommendations?
I was just wondering if one is being selected by the recommendations, does she/he go through all the interview alone?or will they like plan to make 1 big group to go interview together? maybe with the write-in ppl?

In SQ actually..And i cant reveal his/her name.
Apparently he's the chief steward and he has close contacts with the recruitment officers and yes, she still has to go through all the rounds just like every candidates except for, they always making sure that she will always get shortlisted for every rounds..And yes Abercrombie is right, even if u happened to get recommended,u cant just simply go around telling people about all that, just keep it a secret ya??
