I'm travelling to China and am wondering which travel guide book would be better for a family trip- Frommer's or Lonely Planet. Any ideas or recommendations?

Depends on your budget, I guess.

I find Frommer's to have more expensive choices that are somewhat more upscale than the other guidebooks.

Lonely Planet started off catering to the backpacker crowd but these days usually has good choices for family-friendly accommodation too.

I'm with Ching - Ms C. and I do a lot of adventure travel, as well as business travel. LP is definately better, but remember that there are many other resources out there - try tripadvisor.com as a start.

Remember though, LP does get out of date pretty quickly, so always double check against their own website.

I have the China one if you'd like to borrow it.

Cheers, Mr. P
