Graphic design work in Singapore

Hi,

I'm a graphic designer with 14 years experience in various design roles looking at moving to Singapore by the beginning of next year, I am currently living in Dublin, Ireland.

I was wondering what the chances are of getting a job over there in the graphic design field and if there are any recruitment agencies or the like that anyone could suggest. Also, what sort of salary people in the graphic design field can expect.

I am Australian but was raised in Singapore, I lived there from the age of 6 months up until the age of 18 and I would love to go back.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Andrew C.

Hi Andrew

I'm in a very similar position to you. I'm primarily a print designer with same ish years experience. Was wondering how you got on? I'm just starting to look. Salaries look dire!

Hi,

I agree with andy_chris02, salaries do look dire. I'm primarily a print designer as well with same-ish years of experience and I came to Singapore around mid 2008. Currently working for a local company doing packaging design for a consumer electronics company. Still looking for better opportunities.

Regarding Andrew C.'s question, most job postings are on online job sites. You could also try sending your CV to Singapore headhunting companies or you could try targetting companies you'd like to work for directly through their websites. A quick Google search would give you a fairly good list. Cheers!

hey

Well, i'm in the design industry myself.
Depending on what kind of design you are doing, the demands differs.

I would said there are lots of opening for advertisting, prints and multimedia design. There is a establish market to it here. At least there are always new job positing for graphic designer in the classified job. There are also well known international design firms here.

Still, your porfolio is the one that gives you your bread and butter, don't expect a high paid salary with a effortless porfolio.

yup, i do agreed that you could try out some online job classification for some jobs. I do know about this webite site maybe you could take a look at it.

There's a postings board for Singapore-based creative jobs on mandy.com
You can give that a try.

Why do you need a recruitment agency? To help with relocation? I am sure there are plenty of IT companies in Singapore ready to interview you directly via Skype for example. It will be more effectively to examine job market rather than ask on a forum, I guess.

It's a ten year old post. I suspect the poster has moved on.
