a couple questions please

Hi,

I have a couple questions, I tried to do some searches but I wasn't quite able to find what I was looking. So I apologize if you answered some of these questions previously.

I am a 25 year old Canadian citizen, I just took a job in Singapore ( moving in 2 weeks whew! ) The company I work for is getting me a place to live for 30 days, to give me some time to adjust and look for my own place to live, I just like to do a little research before hand so maybe I don't feel so rushed.

I'll be working in Changi Business park central 2, what would be some nice areas to live in with reasonable easy access to get to my work?, I don't mind about 30 minute commute that is what my commute was previously in Vancouver. I am just looking to rent a room with a budget around 1000 + Utilities etc.

If anyone could recommend some good areas, I can look those places up see what I can find. I am just not sure where that place is in relation to MRT so I am not sure how to begin my search. I just accepted the position 3 days ago.

Thanks again, I apologize again if I repeated previous questions asked in other threads.

Welcome to SG kwb.

There is no MRT station near your workplace. The nearest MRT would be either Tanah Merah or Tampines. I presume that there are shuttle buses plying from these MRT to Changi business park.
You can preferable stay around the East coast area's which would be 20-30 minutes from your workplace.
HTH.

Cheers.

Thanks

Hey Blue,

Thanks for the information, it gives me some idea of where to look now, from looking at an MRT map of where I should maybe be looking for a place to live.

Whew, got lots of information to find still in the next 2 weeks =) really excited though.

Well, you have 30 days accommodation provided by the company.
That should be enough for you to look for an convenient place of accommodation and settling down.
If you still need any further details, email me : [email protected].

Cheers.

For easy commuting to Changi Business Park (CBP) and to meet your budget, you should be looking for flat shares whether in HDB flats or condos in and around Tampines, Simei, Upper East Coast and Tana Merah.

There are a few condos VERY nearby to CPB including Changi Rise - http://www.singaporeexpats.com/singapor ... -court.htm - Changi Green - http://www.singaporeexpats.com/singapor ... -green.htm and Cascadale - http://www.singaporeexpats.com/singapor ... cadale.htm

$1000 should get you a 'master bedroom' (with ensuite bathroom) in a HDB flat or a 'common room' (bedroom without ensuite bathroom) in a condo.

You should have no problem finding a suitable place. No need to panic just yet!
