Singapore Expats

I am thinking of bringing my young kids to either TIoman or Redang for a few days break. Looked through the net but am confused still.

Can anyone suggest which place has nicer beaches ?
Is it easy to get internet connection as I will need it for my business emails.

Which is the easier way to get to either Tioman or Redang ? We dont drive and never been to JB or Mersing as well.

As far as I know, the fastest way to travel to both of them is Air Berjaya.

Redang definately has nicer beaches than Tioman.. But Redang is harder to get to as it is further north than Tioman. Unless you plan to take a plane there, you need to take around 9hours bus journey to reach the port for redang.

Tioman is just half a day journey from Singapore. Just go to larkin bus station to board bus for Mersing and then ferry to Tioman..

hi, i ve been to both island. in tioman, i was staying at Tioman beach resort. as for redang, i was staying at laguna redang resort. below are the comparison of these 2 places.
accommodation - both resorts are great. only diff is everything in tioman is so cheap, in terms of F&B. much much cheaper than in redang. esp. alcohol redang is more to tourist.
transportation - tioman win. tioman is much more accessible than redang from spore. the journey from spore to tioman, took about 6 hrs. ( 4 hr bus journey + 1.5 hr ferry trip) ; as for redang, took about 12 hrs ( 10 hrs of bus ride + 1.5 hr ferry). if u r bringing kids along, dun think they gonna like it. by the time u reach redang, u r damn tired already..
activities - u may expect to have the same activity in both places. snorkeling n more snorkeling.. no expect of waterski. lot of sun burning..
scenery - definitely redang, beautiful beach, beautiful sea ( clear blue water), nice coral, uncountable fishes.

Can fly on Berjaya air to both islands. Not much to do other than the resorts on either.
I would suggest flying to Redang and staying at the Berjaya resort there. It has a private beach in a nice bay. All other resorts on the island are next to each other, and share the same beach. Many of the resorts along here have outside bars with ktv etc, so can be noisy.
Berjaya resort is a bit more sheltered from currents and waves, so the water is more pleasant... great place. Note that there is no easy way to get from Berjaya to the other resorts on the island as there is a mountain in the way. You need to hire a boat to go round
