Hi,

Recently i had posted discussion bout my child's allergy who shocked all of us cos she's never had allergy before back home.

Anyway, her condition has stabilised after medication AND some allergy management exercise.

She had this skin prick test and found she's allergic to dust and dust mites. So we started eliminating some dust collecting items in her room.

But we felt her coughs were much less at night after we got her mattress cleaned by this company call De hygienique www.dh-asia.com , after being recommended by my sister in law.

Thought I should share this experience I had to you who may be having similar allergy prob in your home.

We are all allergic to dustmites at home...

All of our mattresses are covered with an anti-dustmites mattress cover and it's already a huge difference for us.

How much did they charge?

you can find anti dust mite product in the pharmacies. We discovered my kid has an allergy 2 months ago. I asked the pediatrician for a product to clean his mattress. You just spay it on the mattress and let it dry for several hours. It's about SGD 40 and can be used several times. And I put as mattress cover as well for easier cleaning.

great suggestions. I have just moved to my condo and I find that there is dust everywhere ..even in the wardrobes !! i try to clean and clean but somehow since my flat is just next to the water fountains ..perhaps thats where the dust comes from. My boy also did a skin prick test, and was found to be having the same allergy.

Now ,he is getting mild eczema..some rash all over the body, brought him to the GP, no effect,then I took him to NUH to see a child specialist. He improved just for about 3 weeks. now got worse..he keeps scratching maybe I will get the mattresses disinfected as well.

The company i engage charges $40 for my Super Single Mattress and $55 for my King Size.

I like this company because they are professional and friendly. Most importantly the service is totally dry and chemical FREE! I freak out when I heard there are those that use chemical or steam to clean the mattress. I mean we spent so much money to buy good quality mattresses.

The customer service officer was also knowledgeable and helpful. So were the guys who came to service my mattresses. So since they were highly recommended, I gave them a try.

Or, in English, they use a vacuum coupled with UV light, then spray some "organic orange oil" into your mattress:

Orange oil, aka limonene or 4-isopropenyl-1-methylcyclohexene, is the stuff that makes dishwashing liquid smell like lemon. It's a known skin irritant and causes cancer in rats:
