Singapore Expats

Hello all. We're moving from London to Singapore towards the end of the year and we have a 18month year old. She goes half-days to nursery here and we want to continue that in Singapore.... and since we want to keep our travel to a minimum we're looking to live near a good pre-nursery.

Can anyone recommend a pre-nursery that is international. We're also keen to live near other expats to keep some connection with the UK.

So far we've just come across the Newton / Orchard areas where EtonHouse have branches... but personal recommendations are much more valuable.

My eldest has gone to Eton House - Orchard Blvd for the past two years. He'll be moving this year to start his "big boy" school - but he absolutely loved Eton House (Orchard) and is very sad to leave. My younger one will start this year and we couldn't be happier. It is a warm, loving nurturing environment - primarily play based on the PYP (Primary Years Program). The entire staff is so very passionate about the children and the setting is fantastic. I couldn't recommend this preschool highly enough.

Is Eton House primarily for UK families or is it open to any nationality? My family is also likely moving to Singapore. Older daugter will attend Canadian school, I think, but I'd like to find something for my younger one (age 2) to attend at least part time.

Etonhouse is open to all nationalities - my son's class had quite a mixture - English, American, Australian, South African, Dutch, German, French, Japanese, Korean ...etc. Each class has 3 teachers - a head teacher, the assistant and the Mandarin teacher. His head teachers were Canadian and Australian respectively. There is a waiting list for most of the classes (Orchard Branch) so best to call and have a visit if you are interested. It really is such a lovely environment - and based on my own experiences I can't say enough about the school.

im also considering sending my 4 and a half year old there, do you roughly know what the cost is monthly?

A few kids in our building go to the Eton House on Newton Road. I haven't heard of any complaints. There is also a Montessori school on Newton, and we know a couple of kids from that school as well. Again, no complaints.

We send our daughter to Pat's Schoolhouse on Buckley. There are expat kids there, too, though it's probably 85 percent locals.

She'll be there for the rest of this year plus one more. We are pleased with our decision.

The Etonhouse on Orchard is only open through K2 (or P2) which would be to age 6.
