Singapore Expats

I am thinking of planning a family trip to New South Wales but have no idea about when to go, how to reach there..where to stay and shop..also the attractions .

If anyone has been there and is able to give some good feedback, it will be much appreciated.

if you are keen to try new things, do get lonely planet guidebook. you can borrow it from national library.

my friend and extended family going to perth in october and they would be doing a 3 cars convoy there.

best to rent a car, a family size, 7 seater can be had for A$50++ per day.

public transport, quite all right in the city, inter-city, at most once or twice a day.

The biggest attraction in NSW would be Sydney, the best time of year to go would be November to February so you can enjoy the beaches.

Things to see in Sydney:

Opera House
Beaches. not just Bondi.
day trip to the Blue Mountains, to see a bit of aussie bush land.
The Harbour, take a ferry from the city to Manly.
Bars, Clubs, pubs, Restaurants, cafes etc.

a football game. Go the Tigers!

hi tom, will be doing sydney sometime in sept. Have never been to australia though. whats your say on a tour vs sightseeing alone? Thks

thats really a personal preference thing, i always prefer sight seeing on my own.

Sydney's pretty big though and a lot of the sights are a long way away from each other, so if you chose to do it on your own then do plenty of research first. Public transport in Sydney is far from good, so either hire a car or get taxi's.

to go to the places Tommy mentioned, public transport is good enough..like their busses..lots of sunlight;p

Definitely catch a ferry at Darling Harbour and go to Manly for the afternoon. Very relaxing.

If you can afford it (a little expensive!) climb Sydney Harbour Bridge. There are great views from the top.
