Hi, I am planning to move to SG but I am concern about the number of hours I will have to work. The following is quote from a website promoting the city. Is 44 hours a week is an average week?

Most companies operate a workweek with Saturday being a half-day. Eight-hour workdays with an hour lunch break in between are common. The maximum work hours per week are capped at 44.

Yup, that's right. We have to clock at least 44 hours per week officially.

Unofficial working hours within companies vary widely and generally I do think Singaporeans work harder than (say) Europeans... although not quite the same insane hours as in Hong Kong.

(No prizes for guessing who's sitting at work on a Sunday afternoon... but at least it's raining outside.)
