Is it common practice or possible at all to negotiate a lease rental inclusive of utilities e.g. water, electricity, or gas etc? Many thanks:D

probably not. i mean, if you are a landlord, would you want to fully inclusive for your tenant? your tenant will be leaving the air-cond, lights and water on 24/7.

fully inclusive is mainly if you are renting a room or short term rental. but then, if you dont try, you dont know.

if you do manage to have inclusive utilities, the landlord would be cheaper than all cheap stereotypes you can think of. I know instances where the landlord would check up always if you're using a light (what's an energy-saving lamp that is on if you happen to be still wide awake at 1 am?), or would always remind you you take too long in the bathroom even if you just spent five minutes or tell you could only do your laundry once a week, etc, etc...you get the idea. If your utility-inclusive rent isn't exorbitant (50 SGD per person who's not using airconditioning is ridiculous), you wouldn't have peace of mind.

Unless of course, you're lucky to have a landlord who's heaven-sent but that's a rarity.

Thank you for your feedback. I know of a few expats who have negotiated similar deals in countries other than Singapore - was worth a try!
