Hi there,

My wife and I are here on a EP/DP visa. In the last couple of months, we've had significant medical expenses (12k+) that was not covered by insurance. Does anyone know if these expenses are tax deductible, or if there's any way to recoup some of the costs?

My wife has the EP, I have a DP. Her company has not purchased any insurance for her. We now have NTUC insurance, but that wasn't in effect during her procedure (fibroid removal surgery). That surgery cost us $12000 out of pocket, and now we're hoping to recoup that cost somehow.

Hi, I was just wondering if you got an answer to your question whether medical expenses for other members of your family is tax deductible or not? I have a 2 year old that was also not covered by medical aid and I had to spend a lot of money paying of the hospital earlier in the year. Thanks a lot.

Unlike the US Internal Revenue Code, things like interest, medical expenses, and other stuff are not deductable on your tax return here. The tax return is totally black and white with no shades of gray anywhere in it.
