Hello,

I have stupidly lost my employment pass the day before a business trip with my boss to Australia. Can I still fly without it?

ANY help would be much appreciated

I don't have the answer but what I can suggest is go to the ICA counter at the airport and explain your situation to them, they should be able to assist.

Reply from Australia business trip. Yes you can fly without your green card, they just take you over to their special immigration counter, sign you in and then off you go. Phew!

It is worth making a copy of your card and keeping it somewhere safe. When you receive the new card - fingerprinted and with picture - they don't stamp your passport, so there is no evidence other than the card that you have the right to stay. Very useful if you lose your card intransit :o

Another safety trick is to scan all those important documents (IC, Passport, Employment pass, ...) and upload to any personal FTP site or just email to yourself, so you can get them in case of emergency from any point of the world.

Easier than a printed copy

I store my entire FULL CV complete with all certifications and other supporting documentation on my website, my free pacnet website and another folder holds it all on my Yahoo mail as well. With big online storage facilities like gmail and yahoo/hotmail it's pretty easy.

As far as scanning of you pass/nric, be advised it is against the law to print them in colour. B & W is okay though. Scan 'em in colour & just print 'em in B & W. A thumbdrive on your keychain works good as well as long as access to that is password protected.

SMS - thank you for the heads up on the "colour" issue. I never would've known

Besides having you on record, and at least with the old 'green card' employment pass, your EP is also stamped into your passport.

Does the EP now include biometric data and a photo id?
