Where is the best place to live and/or work in the world and why? Would be interesting to see if the forum's answers are the same as the general surveys out there (or biased :o )

Agree, northern Spain could be nicer. But Southern France ain't bad either, but the whole area is more for retirement than working age life. Lived there for a few years, but actually prefer to be here.

Singapore's not bad for working. France is more holiday place, excellent for that purpose.

Damn cold at night in the mountains

I like the UK myself, though not the anti social areas, the Country is beautiful, and i have seen very little of it, the government sucks! The Country is bankrupt, so no future at the moment!

Singapore is good for 9 months of the year.

Heard Monaco is nice and also St Vincent for retirement!

Nah, not funny as all and should be expected. This is a business called Singapore, Inc. Most people I know only "work" at their business. All of us, bar none, are here only for one thing (or at least that's how it started) and that's money. I'd work in Siberia if the money was right. Has nothing to do with where I think is the best place to live.

It doesn't happen that often, but I am with Vaucluse: Italy.

Miles ahead of anything else in the entire world.

As for why, just pay it a visit, eat, drink, view and sense the ultimate beauty.

Stay home without doing any work would be my first option else in a place with mountains without the luxury of mobile/tv etc.

I like northern Spain as well, specifically Santander as I got to stay there for a month. The place was near the beach, and the atmosphere was laidback. Although I doubt that it'd be a place for me coz that time, I was like the only Asian there. When I entered a bar/restaurant for lunch, everyone turned to stare at me. =/
