Singapore Expats

I'm 30 years old german and just discovered that I'm pregnant, first time and very happy . I'm living here since one year now, but so far don't know any gyneaecologist and also don't know which hospital might be good for delivery.
Does anybody have a good recommendation. As i'm living in the east, prefer more the east...how about the east shore?

Or are there any other first time pregnany ladies, maybe germans too?

I'm open for all your hints...thanks.

East Shore Hospital is ok. I plan to delivery my first baby there probably on this last of dec or 1st week of January. My gynae is Dr. Sidek. He is nice person, friendly. One of the member here recommended me to see him and im happy to find him as my gynae. His private clinic is in East Point Mall

I'm also expecting (although this will be my third!!). First time delivering in SG though.
I'm using Dr TC Chang at Thomson Medical Centre who is really good. It's not in the East though. Good luck in finding a good gynae and hospital!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I gave birth to my second baby 2 weeks ago at East Shore and, I must say, it comes highly recommended by me.
My Dr was Dr Heng Tung Lan who I have no complaints with and my labour was a much more postitive experience then giving birth in the UK 4 years ago. My stay afterwards was more like staying in a hotel (I went for the single room) - extremely restful and relaxing!! My recovery from the birth has been much quicker this time as well, probably because I've been a lot more relaxed from the start.
That was my experience anyway - I know there's probably more 'upmarket' maternity hospitals in the City - but I personally wanted to go for one close by so I didn't have to travel far in labour! Good luck!

Hi! I'm pregnant and German, too. I'm seeing Dr. T.C. Chang at Thomson Medical Centre who was recommended to me by some other expat mothers. So far I feel good about my choice and I like that he is working together with a British midwife that you can also book as a doula for your delivery. If you have more questions, just give me your email adress.

As an expat, I looked EXTENSIVELY for a delivery hospital I like, and I changed several gynaes. So, hands down, National University Hospital (NUH) Ward 96 beat all the state and private hospitals I looked at. As for a gynae, I had both my kids with Dr Chong YS at NUH Women's Ruby Clinic and coulnd't have been happier.

Will gladly recommend Raffles Hospital because we love the fact that traffic is smooth on the way there. My gynae was Dr Lee I-Wuen who is rather accommodating and reassuring for a first time parent.

We've heard that Dr Paul Tseng from Thomson Medical is great too if you are into au-natural births. He works with doulas too. The only thing I didn't like about going to Thomson was that I've had 1 or 2 friends who were stuck in traffic just outside the hospital and had to birth in the cab/ car.

my gynae was Dr Paul Tseng of TLC at Thomson Med Ctr when I birthed my boy last May. My hubby and I have only superlatives for Paul. Highly recommended! We switched to him in my 33rd week because I wanted a gynae who truly respected my preferences and birth plan for an au naturel birth as far as medically safe. Paul is very experienced, skilled and confident, and wonderfully calming and reassuring.

My Gynae: Dr Chan Kong Hon aof Glenegles, Very Good! THumb Up!

Raffles hospital has a clinic in Tampines and other places that you can do the check ups easily. I had my boy in Raffles, they are nice and good doctors and nurses.

My wife and I are planning to have our second baby- anyone who can tell me how much the cost of monthly check-ups and the delivery?

If you are near the city centre, Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth will have the biggest choices of doctors. Mount Elizabeth alone has more than 40 gynecologists !!
