Why does my windows xp goes to login screen?

When I am at my desktop and leave it there for about 15 minutes, the whole screen goes to the log in user screen, and when I click back on to the desktop, all my stuff in the icons are gone (for example, the IE, and Word I was on is not saved.)
How can I prevent the screen from logging off into the log-in screen?

Hi,
since recently I have a problem with my computer that goes after a amount of time to the login screen.
I'm using windows XP pro.
I never had this before.
My computer runs day and night.
I have my settings for going into standby and hibernate stuff shut off.
How can I prefent my computer for going in standby mode. (Not going to the login screen)

to change the login screen, go to start - control panel - user accounts, and u'll find helpful notes there to change your settings.
