Hi,

My kid just completed his K2. However due to his age, 6+, he cannot go to any primary 1 (age requirement is to be 7 years old). Thus, He has to wait till next year to be on P1.
I am thinking to teach him myself for p1 (any ideas where I can get the coursework?) and would enrolling him in a system like kumon be a good idea ?

The idea is that he is not to sit idle this whole year, and also, in case we leave Singapore, he will not lose 1 year, and be able to enroll in p2.

Can you recommend something, or any tuition centers that I can contact to get him started.

Cheers,

Pls do check with the primary school again. The year that the child turns 7yrs old, is the year that he is studying P1. So if your child is 6+, he is at the right age to be in P1 this year.

My son is born on May 2003, he starts P1 now. We moved here from US last year. He also went to K2 with SG local school last year.

hi, u can go to Popular Bookstore and ask the store assistants to help you find primary one books. a couple of my Singaporean friends on the homeschooling network are doing this.

Little M is correct. If your child is already 6+ before 01 Jan 2010, he could already be in P1 this year. Here is an excerpt from the MOE:

Children born between 2 January 2003 and 1 January 2004 (both dates inclusive) may be registered for Primary One Classes in 2010.

Check other info on P1 registration here: http://moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/ ... istration/
