This is the opposite subject to the usual one but we are returning to Australia and were wondering what the best (cheapest but safe) way to move the money in our Singapore bank accounts back to Australia would be?

The AUD is very strong at the moment, you may lose about 20-30% of your SGD if you change it now. Can you afford to wait a bit?

Yes, hopefully in a few months the A$ will settle down somewhat.

I have used XE.com to move the money between Aus & Singapore and vice versa.

See my previous post about this.

you can open a forex account with http://www.OzForex.com.au (Macquarie Bank own a 51% controlling stake in it). you'll save a lot on fees and will get a much better rate than the banks will ever give you.
