I can't believe nobody have talked about iPAD yet! Let me start the ball rolling...

I am not a techie but I am an Apple fan, so let's discuss on your thoughts of the new iPAD?

A few downers that are commonly discussed:
1) Inability to multi-task
2) Insufficent or lack of ports
3) Camera
4) No flash support
5) Should have a stylus

If "1" is true hardware limitation then unlikely I will buy it. If software only, and Linux will be ported to it then likely yes :) Looks fragile.

I'm guessing for the ladies there will only be one reason for an iPad. Period. :P

You can get an ipad for free. Just hold your iPhone closer to your face. $900 save.

We can talk about its shortcomings all day but people will end up buying it anyway...and I'm not one of those people. Incidentally, I'm writing this on a tablet which is not a mac product.

Just saw the video.+9000!

tablet is such an old hat. me been using the thinkpad X41 tablet when it first came out and now using the lenovo X61 tablet. i will be checking out the HP slate when the vendor can get hold of one for me.

a usability of a tablet/slate depends on whether you need it or how good the software are.

Any science or technology sufficiently advanced or complex will seem magical to those who do not fully comprehend it.

But the sales depends on how sexy marketing makes it so that people will lust for it!

My $0.02? It will flop. It's allegedly more than an iPhone but less than a netbook. And when viewed as centered between the two:

a) What? No wireless syncing? Very old hat.
b) What? No USB port? C'mon Apple, leave the proprietary plug but let's get to some standards.
c) Can't print, either to a USB printer or to a wireless printer.
d) Can't multi-task... c'mon... I did a jailbreak on my iPhone to get that... how long before the same is available for this thing with Apple once again screaming 'illegal'.
e) No phone and no phone data service in initial model... OK... I might not hold it to my ear... but I could use a headset.

Time to wait and see what happens next.

am with you on these and the other pretty-well documents reasons floating around the internet on why not to get one

Jobs is a smart guy, and he knows this better than anyone else, this must have been his most desperate move yet

not being an Apple fan to begin with makes it even easier to ignore this one and watch the sheep go an buy it

...all of a sudden, people would need to read e-books in color and news while on the go. when the iphone finally took off, people suddenly demanded multitouch screens when previously they were content with single touch tapping or trackballs and cursor keys.

but alas, i'm preaching to the choir.

the only good thing i see in this is that other companies that plan to release tablets would re-think their pricing just to get a slice of apple's pie.
