Singapore Expats

I'm not too sure if this question has been answered before.. but here goes. Is there a need for an agent to represent the tenant or be part of the tenancy agreement (signature ...?) if there is an agent representing the landlord and i found the place by myself. The contract will be legally stamped etc and the landlord's agent seems like a reasonable person, she's legal, even showed me her IC when signing documents etc

What i am concerned about is if there are problems later on, she would side with the landlord and i would have no one representing me.

Thoughts?

You absolutely don't need an agent. You get better advice here than from an agent. You represent yourself.

Have you seen any reason to distrust the agent or the landlord? If not, go ahead and take the place if you like it.

Landlord is paying her commission.

u won't need an agent if you can handle it on ur own.

sometimes, the agent will still take from both the tenant and landlord, just check out the commission scheme with the agent.
