Singapore Expats

Im sure this has been asked before (I cant find the answer though), but one of my main goals while in Singapore is to have my children learn mandarin. Since my children are half Chinese, I feel it is my DUTY to have them learn the language. I had failed to do this while living in London..private tutors, and once a week classes didnt work. I was fighting a losing battle. But I have new hope for our Singapore experience. Through my experience in London, classes with other children is prefered. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!

If you kids already speak Mandarin, Julia Gabriel might be better.

We have tried both, we come from Europe, my daughter wasn't happy at JG, because she didn't understand anything , and the local kids didn't seem to play with her

Google "Confucius institute NTU". They have classes for kids too.

I know a Singaporean kindergarden teacher who give Mandarin lessons to foreign children. She teaches some French, British, American children and the children like her pretty much. I am not sure if she is available but I can always make an introduction.

to really speed up your kids mandarin, you need to put them for extra extra tuitions. best place to try is your local community center (or even another community center). next, check if this is near you - www.berriesworld.com. and lastly, private tutor (proper tutor, not just someone who can speak and read mandarin). you will also need to make sure they practice at home or try to speak mandarin to the locals, even if it is not a full sentence.
