Singapore Expats

Hi:
We recently find out that we are moving to Singapore on May. I have a 8 month old son and a 5 years old daugther and 2 weeks ago I just bought a bunch of winter clothes. I heard that is very rainy and windy form Dec. to Feb, do we need to bring winter/fall clothes?

And also, how is the calendar year for pre-school, is different in each pre-school?

In a movie theater you might want a light sweater. Otherwise, you'll want to dress lightly. It never gets below 24C (75F) and it gets that low rather rarely (or in the early morning hours.) Expect 30C (86F) every day.

Dressing lightly will be best for Singapore weather. However, you will want to bring along cardigans or some light sweaters for the kiddos. The malls and basically most air-conditioned places can be extremely cold despite the very warm and humid weather outside, so are the offices.

Personal experience is very hard to relate; or may be meaningless even when faithfully related.

However, I love Singaporean weather. It is hot and muggy, and any physical exertion, on almost any day of the year, will quickly deliver sweat to one's forehead.

That being said, if you want to avoid Singapore's weather, all it takes is a little bit of planning and a willingness to remain indoors at all times.

Yep.
People buy sweaters to keep at the office for when they have to sit in meetings.

i recently moved from Melbourne to singapore, even I originally from a tropical country, I have spent about 15 years in australia and use to the weather there, so when coming to singapore to live, it's pretty hard for me at first to settle with the heat and humidity, like said, stay indoor if cant stand the heat... overall it's ok just to wear light clothing and cardigan for inside cinema or malls. I have an 11 months baby who also couldnt stand outdoor much, but I always bring light jacket for him for indoor or outdoor in case it gets windy or wet.
