Wilmer House

Hi,

My family and I are relocating to Singapore in March. I came to view some properties last week, and looked at Wilmer House. Its central, 4 bed, bit old but ok, and pretty cheap. There's a small amount of construction nearby, but can barely hear or see it.

My issue is that the next agent I saw (not the one managing that property) said that there's more construction planned around that area, and that because the whole block is owned by one person they could apply for 'enblock' quickly and we could then be out in 3 months?

Was she just doing the typical competitve realtor thing or is there any truth to this, and how do I find out about any planned construction adjacent/nearby?

Any help much appreciated, am pretty confused!

Dunno about construction, but no way an en-bloc would be completed from start of filing to start of demolition in 3 months -- lead times are usually one year plus. It's a long, complicated process: getting everybody's approval is only the first step, it's negotiating with the buyers that takes time, and many en-blocs fail because no buyer is found. Even after the deal is done and the courts dismiss any objections, the new owner still needs to figure out exactly what they're going to do and how to go about it, and only then do they start razing.
