Hi,

Does anyone have a maid you can recommend?

I am looking for someone to come in for 2 hours a week for some basic cleaning. I live by myself and am fairly neat, so only 2 hrs needed!

Location is fairly central, right near a main rd with frequent buses. Can be flexible with the day.

I'd like a personal recommendation, rather than screening people from scratch. Am looking for someone trustworthy (my last maid was stealing cutlery and teatowels!!)

I think it may be difficult to find anybody for less than 4h a week unless of course you pay for 4h

you need one of them cleaning services. build a rapport with a particular cleaner with a particular firm and go with that.

i use an agency which is very very good. have also recommended them to a few friends. SMS, how can i add them to your list?

I usually wait until I have at least two recommendations as it's much "safer" that way, but I'll have a look-see.

I found it hard to find 2 hour cleaning service too. Usually 4 hour is the least.
Instead, I had to switch from 2 hours per week to 4 hours bi-weekly.

By the way, I thought it was a sister company of the drink... Jia Jia liang teh but it actually means House House/Home Home if you pronouce it right

dodgydurian .. part timers, except those from registered agencies, are illegal .. I am referring to WP holders who moonlight ..

Yes, to clarify more:
Here's a VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE TO ALL.

If you employ a foreign "part-time" maid, domestic helper, they must either be
- Singaporeans /w compulsory CPF contributions (so that they can get government workfare bonus)
- Singapore PRs /w compulsory CPF contributions (so that they can get government workfare bonus)
OR
Cleaners WITH PROPER WORK PERMITS DIRECTLY UNDER THE PAYROLL of the cleaning company.
If they do not get their CPF, they can go to CPF Board to sue you and you will be liable for criminal charge. Even if they ‘agree’ to take cash in private, if things go sour between you and them, they may ‘still decide’ to go to CPF Board to sue you and CPF will still go after you.

Any filipino / Indonesian/ or other country maids working OUTSIDE their original employer's houses ARE DEEM TO BE CONDUCTING IN ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES, can be ARRESTED and CHARGED in SINGAPORE COURT and DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY.

The employment agencies supplying such 'part-time maids' are liable of up to S$80,000 fine by MOM and the house owner employing the part-time services of the filipino / Indonesian / or other country 'part-time' maids is also liable to be fined up to S$15,000 by MOM. Pleading 'ignorance' is not an excuse of violating Singapore Law.

MOM Officers are stepping up their inspections from 500 to 5,000 per year.

You have been warned. It doesn't pay to pay less for illegal maids.
Look for cleaning companies who only supply Singaporean or PR helpers, OR foreign helpers with PROPER WORK PERMITS. These come at a premium cost, but at least you can be assured you are acting in accordance with Singapore Law and you can sleep in peace. More and more have been caught and charged.

It's not easy to get part timers nowadays with these strict rules around unless is recommend by friends.

Yes - someone asked to 'borrow' our maid the other day. I told them to get lost. (It was my ex wife even better).
