what floor is high enough to avoid having cockroaches? are they really in all of the landed houses???

5th floor - we do not have them frequently (a single one once every few months) but we have them occasionally and it seems to be correlated with any anti-pest action going on at the basements so all the crawling survivors climb up to the upper floors. In our previous place on the 7th floor was exactly the same.

I live on the 11th Floor, and we still get roaches.

Tried near damn everything save smoke bombing the entire place.
But they still come back.

they will be everywhere and on every floor. you might clean your place up but it could be the neighbours that breeding them!

BTW, there is this tropical broad-leaved grass everywhere and I clearly remember in 2002 or so, after dusk it was the favourite place for huge cockroaches. In very different locations. Now I don't see cockroaches in the grass any longer. Curious what happened.

Are you referring to the pandan leaves?

Edit : my mistake . Those are the leaves ppl use to deter roaches.

get an ultrasonic gadget from europe....bloody good....I have been here 3 years and can count on one hand and thats pushing it.... how many I have seen in the apartment.

As soon as they get launch their own satellite, there will be! I reckon they even have 'em in the wafer semi-con manufacturers clean-rooms here!

Unfortunately that's what happens in this part of the world. They are not a sign that your home is dirty or anything like that. They are just there.
I was horrified when in Tokyo as they seemed ubiquitous but soon realised that they are like houseflies at home. We used to use something called Combat (Kombat?) which were small flat boxes containing bait. The beasties would wander in, consume the poison and die promptly. The worst thing to do (for myself and my cockroach-phobic husband) was to spray them - the pesky things would go on the offensive and run AT you.... some of them were not small or slow...!!Mind you, on the odd occasion when I could persuade him to deal with it, watching my 185cm (6ft and a bit) husband racing away from one made for some amusement

Singaporean cockroaches can fly but I have never seen any charging in my direction and I am mostly using the spray insecticides like bayogon. So bad and good news for your husband

Yeah we had flying ones too (now THAT was a shock!)....!
