Let's say you were colleague with C for many years. You were buddies for many years,

One day Colleague C was caught shoplifting and was dismissed from the organisation.

Question 1: Would u still consider Colleague C as your friend?

Qn.2 Would u avoid him /her and do not talk with him / her for the rest of your life?

Qn.3 Would u continue to see colleague C for outings.,,etc

Qn 4 Wld u see Colleague C in a different light?

Are you worried being associated with this person will reflect negatively on you?

Personally, I don't think it should make any difference,.. unless it happened to be your shop.

Lots depends on the post behaviour of this person, how he/she explains what happens, what he/she thinks about this etc. This, plus your personal relation. So on one pole you may have your true friend who you should not abandon but try to help him if necessary, on an opposite pole, somebody you are less attached to, maybe already misbehaving earlier where you may want to limit your interactions with. In all the cases it should lit a red light.

I don't see how your colleague being caught shoplifting would affect your friendship. But if he stole from you, that would be a different story...

Everyone has made mistakes in their life. Your colleague just got unlucky and got caught. If you were friends for many years, I wouldn't just cut him out of my life completely all the sudden.

Well, that's what I would have done.
