can i get a part time job?

Hi, currently, im holding employment pass in singapore and i'm just wondering if i can take a part time job as a waitress or something as well? Im a technical person so it wouldnt be a breach of contract if im doing something else but i dont know if it's legal for me to work part time too?

No, you cannot work part time. Your employment pass is only good for the sponsoring employer and you are only allowed a single employment pass. if you are caught moonlighting you will lose both jobs and be deported from Singapore, so the gamble is not worth it. (We lost an S pass holder last year for doing just that - working in a restaurant at night).

what about dependent pass holders-- are they allowed to take part-time jobs (assuming there is an offer)? or is LOC only issued if a DP holder obtains full-time position?

Same deal. You can only have a single LOC at a time. Can be Part-time I suppose but you cannot work anywhere else while you have the LOC for that business.

thanks, sms. i get the "one employer at a time" part, but i've been hearing comments that only citizens and PRs are legally allowed to seek part-time employment. unfortunately i can't find any info on the MOE website confirming or disputing this.

this thread has been here for awhile. i think singapore government is more strict now adays compared before
sadly my cousin was sent back to the states for a crazy reason after doing all her part and submitting everything she needs to comply with ... sigh!

I am trying to get a adjunct lecturer position in either NUS, NTU or SMU. But they dont seemed to advertise.
Anyone knows how I can apply for one?

Maybe they are not advertising because they don't need one??

Same deal. If you want to freelance, need your own business, should be able to file as a DP... used to be easy, much harder now... check the threads of those who have tried (and succeeded) in starting their own business as a freelancer.

from what i know, foreigners on DP and LTVP+ can apply for LOC, foreigners on LVPT will have to apply for the usual work passes before they can work in Singapore.
my neighbour on DP is actually working on an LOC. she's on part-time with a company and they actually got her an LOC. i heard they are still recruiting. not bad at all for the high pay she's getting!
