Hi,
Any recommendation for a good western classical Violin teacher in the Mandaville Music school? Is anyone's child part of this school?-Thank you very much.

My 5yr old recently started taking violin classes there. The teacher (not a Westerner, i think Vietnamese) is very patient and good with kids.

Thanks for your feed back. The teacher that we are planning to see is Prof. Thanh. By any chance does any one know him?

I partially agree with what the person says.
I have had lessons with Prof Thanh for the past one year. He is a conservative and bias teacher that treats adult students and child who are accompanied by adult differently.

If you are going to attend violin lessons from him as an adult, be prepared that there will always be a language barrier since his English is not good and half the time he does not understand what the customer wanted. Also, you have to bear in mind that he always releases the student on the dot and there is no room for negotiation on what the customer wants to learn. Negotiation will be considered as lesson time even though nothing was taught. The other time I told him I wanted to learn a music piece, he got angry with me and raised his voice to me saying that "YOU WILL LEARN WHAT I TEACH"

However, if you are a parent and you are accompanying your child, then you will have an upper hand. This is because he is fearful of parents and parents always get what they want. Negotiation will be done after lesson time and be rest assured that unlike how he hits me when I don't hold my violin right, he won't dare to hit your child infront of you.

That in itself is a warning of this so-called teacher's methods...one to avoid not recommend.
